Phenomenal Occurrences

Some occurrences are so phenomenal and mind boggling that we fail to extract a logical explanation to quench our thirsty curiosity. Most of the people do not even take notice of such incomprehensible episodes of life. However, I would like to mention here two types of happenings, which have a regular trail of repetition in my life since early childhood.

I started noticing at an early age that whenever I felt too much emotional inclination towards a person and I expressed my true sentiments, I lost him. It mostly happened on the same pattern. I have always been very selective in choosing friends and the ones that I picked had something exceptionally different from the common lot. We shared a lot with each other including private moments of solitude to exchange innocent words of heart and other little secrets like saving five paisas in a week from pocket money, having a chance of sneaking a quick look into father's wallet, thinking about using shaving razor but without a blade in it etc. etc.

Only God knows why but I mostly had one friend's company at a time. And there has always been a ferocious battle inside whether to tell others about that friendship or not. I mostly succumbed to the temptation of disclosing the truth only to be punished with a break-up without any apparent reason. And those break-up never reverted again. It occurred when I was only 6 and it occurs now when I'm 54. Is it not phenomenal?

The second most puzzling coincidence of my life is that whenever I visited or passed through a certain place frequently without any forethought, it just happened that either I soon got a job within the vicinity of that place or was forced by the conjured up circumstances to spend long hours of time there. A sort of compulsive binding pushed me towards that specific place or area for weeks and months onward without my conscious realization that circumstances were driving me to comply with their will. Such routines continued for certain duration and then everything came to a standstill as if nothing unusual had ever happened.

It's Hillary ... Hillary ... Hillary ... not Hallery Clinton, dumb foooools !

What the hell is the problem with Pakistani non-English electronic media?

Where on earth the newsreaders, reporters, talk-show hosts, most of the frequently appearing guests and commentators live in this age of information technology?

I have not seen a single creature of the above species pronouncing Hillary Clinton's name correctly during the last three days or so. Even those newsreaders whose Urdu pronounciation makes me a bit jealous pronounce it as Hal-ery.

What the producers, directores and writers of news scripts do in their free time beside taking sips of hot coffee and tea?

Then what's wrong with the newsreaders? Don't they have any common sense to check the spellings of the foreign noted celebrities before facing the camera?

Have they all gone mad or are they all damned dumb fools not ever to read the name of
Ms. Hillary Clinton?

For God's sake be sensible and honest to your duties and responsibilities as newsreaders, reporters, talk-show hosts, and commentators.

OH MY GOSSSH ... WHAT A BREAK-THRU !

A News Item

“The meeting is a breakthrough as two major political parties expressed their will to work for the continuity of the democratic system,” Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan told The News.''
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The two political party leaders (not national leaders) met 11th (or perhaps 12th) time to achieve what : this so called BREAK-THRU . . . sheer nonsense!

The miraculous breakthrough, in the simple words of naive Raja Zafar-ul-Haq was that N.R.O. was not mentioned even once during the 90 minute long meeting. Wow, what an outcome of 90 precious minutes of the valuable time of this pitiable nation's President and the patron-in-chief of a friendly (?) opposition.

So, it was a meeting not for negotiations to devise some strategy to get the country out of hot stormy waters but for repeating the same crap that we have been seeing in newspapers and on television channels time and again for the last more than a year.

And then there was dinner about which a delegate diner of PML (N) said that the best thing in the dinner was '' ROTI ''. Poor invitees !

Sharm tum ko magar nahi aati

UmeedeiN poochhti haiN wahshatoN ka raqs kub ho ga
zameeN par abb lahoo ki baarishoN ka raqs kub ho ga

sar-e-bazaar naachay ga koi majzoob-e-uriyaaN kub
abaaoN, pagRRiyoN aur wardiyoN ka raqs kub ho ga

HEY TALIBAN ! PAUSE AND PONDER.

Hey Taliban! If you have a strong conviction and faith in your cause, stop killing the innocent people and better fight against the internal oppressors who are the real culprits and devouring the roots of our Pakistan. The external oppressor will automatically run away to escape.

Killing innocent people and battling with Pak army means you are programmed by the ememies of Pakistan and planted here to make their dreams of harnessing our nuclear capabilities and putting a big full stop to further scientific development come true. If so, I hate you from the deepest core of my heart alongwith millions of other Pakistanis.

Now it is upto you to decide who you are sacrificing your lives for; Islam and Pakistan or the enemies of Pakistan and oppressors.

Your version of Islam is merely a fabricated ideology and wishful thinking. Should you be honest with God, the Prophet (peace be upon him) and with yourselves, break the shackles of myopia and self deception and realize the truth. The whole scenario would change and masses will salute even shadows of your existence.

Just pause and ponder, you hell-filler foooools !

PEOPLE ARE NOT SERIOUS !

In my humble opinion people of Pakistan are not honest to themselves and to Pakistan as well and their wishful thinking and dreaming about a revolutionary change in the country is only superficial. The proof is their emotional attachments with their political and religious parties respectively.

My question is who is responsible to bring the corrupt, selfish, coward and money/power hunger politicians back to power? It's people of Pakistan including the poor masses who always suffer the most.

Have you ever seen PPPP workers and loyalists (jiyalaas) to demonstrate against corruption, unjustifiable price-hike, social injustice and other social evils etc. in the tenure of their own government? Have workers and loyalists of PML (N) ever raised their voice against their own government? Never .... never. Why? Are they not among the sufferers, oppressed and suppressed? They do but they are blackmailed and bluffed by their own emotions and sentiments.

Under these circmustances and with this weakness of a national character, how can a revolutionary change be expected?

Some of my friends may not like it but I would say that we '' awaam '' are the only hindrance in the way to our own destiny.

Allah bless us with true wisdom, freedom of minds, realization of our rights and recognition of the real dirty faces of our disguised party leaderships . . . aameen !

NO DOOMSDAY EXPECTED UNTIL .....?

A flair for creativity does not settle on anything easily. It keeps thinkers, writers, poets, painters, musicians, sculptors, graphic designers, inventors and scientists on tenterhooks all the time. Their life is entrapped in a cliffhanger situation . . . on a day to day basis because something is always tickling their brains. A sort of pain makes them restless and uncomfortable even while they may look happy with broad smiles on their faces. These are the people that keep the mankind moving ahead towards its destiny. (What and where is the destiny?)

Now don't say post doomsday scenario or entry into heavens. I mean what is the destiny for mankind before the end of this world. Any idea please?

Everything created by the Greatest Creator has some logical essence in it. He definitely must have some goals for mankind to achieve before the last sunrise on this earth and on other planets of the Universe.

To me, there is no chance of any doomsday until and unless human mind stops thinking creatively. Yes, creative thinking is the sole job, besides obedience and submission of will to the Creator, that is keeping this world moving forward.

Now imagine the landing of Adam on earth and the scientific, industrial, intellectual and social development of today's man. The force behind all this is just creative thinking.

Thank you Lord Creator for blessing us with the most astonishing and puzzling creation - the mind, creative mind.

WHO WILL DARE TO TAKE THIS CHALLENGE?

Now I don't meddle with youngmen of 15-20, for their closing statement, after my each attempt of mentoring them, mostly goes like this :

- " Look uncle, next time don't take 'panga' with young lads ''.

- " Uncle Jee, find people of your age for 'pangay baazi' ".

- " Baba Jee, stay home and do Allah Allah ".

And strangely enough I don't mind as I used to do about a decade ago. I don't even blame them because I realize that there has definitely been a great lapse in their grooming and upbringing both at home and school. I don't think they could be straightened up in colleges.

Despite all the modernised and rather improvised education at Institutions with big names projecting their academic success through heavily-budgetted advertisement campaigns, a great deficiency of manners, etiquette, decency and modesty is clearly observed in many a youth both at undergraduate and graduate levels.

They also lack in self-esteem. Perhaps they don't know the meaning and importance of it.

I've noted that most of these youth don't even know how to handle volatile situations and explode like volcanoes in ordinary matters of confrontation. They don't know how to communicate in these situations instead of reacting to other people's harsh remarks.

Are parents-to-be and young teachers taking note of this ever worsening issue? Would they not dare to accept this challenge so that after a decade or two we could take pride in claiming that at last we have a generation of character?

Hell with high-salaried policy makers and pseudointellectuals !

N.R.O. (Covert Definition)

I'm saddened and fed up with the ongoing argumentative talks about N.R.O. and am flabbergasted at the naive stance of participants of talk shows on all channels who do not know the covert definition of N.R.O.

They must realize the fact that N.R.O. stands for NATIONAL RASCALS' ORGANIZATION. Don't take it as a joke please.

If you happen to grab a copy of N.R.O. you can see that it was meant to grant pardon to those who had committed one crime or another.

Now please tell me who committed crimes and not just once out of any compulsion but repeatedly?

The one who conceived and created it was the biggest rascal in the history of Pakistan and those who were benefitted are trying hard to break their predecessor's record exploiting every possible opportunity of minting money.

Poor Prime Minister is either really an innocent or forced by circumstances to sew his lips on this in exchange with premiership.

In spite of all the limitations and restricted freedom, he is enjoying the previliges lavishly granted to the designation of Prime Minister of the Land of the Pure.

N.R.O. members have better vision of their future!

LEFT OUT PATCHES OF JOINING ROADS

It is mostly observed that after the completion of road construction, in the middle-class areas of the city, a reasonable length of patch, joining side roads is mostly left untouched. Mostly it remains so for months causing disruption in the flow of traffic as well as irrepairable damage to tyres of bicycles and motorcycles. Car drivers rarely use such rock-ridden dirt-patches.

Who should be held responsible for this negligence, ignorance or biased planning? If it is a matter of normal policy of the concerned authorities, then Offsider slaps their faces with a big WHY! If contractors are the culprits, then they alongwith their State accomplices should be punished by the higher authorities.

Will the holy and pious Chief Minister ever bother to steal a few hours every week, in disguise, to visit middle-class and lower-class residential areas initially of his beloved Lahore and later of the whole Punjab to see the criminl social injustice and disparities?

And remember Mr. Chief Minister, any developmental work in your province is no big favour to people, it's your prime duty to do whatever is possible for you to take note of their problems and give them relief.

Will someone be bold enough to calculate how much amount of the taxpayers' money have been spent on security arrangements of the Chief Minister alongwith his cabinet, secreteries, honurary stupid advisers and how much on the welfare of poor masses? In fact such figures should be gathered from all provinces and especially about Rehman Malik alone!

Even a begger pays sales tax while purchasing packed milk for his family. So, we have a right to know where our tax money is spent and in what ratio.

It would be a great favour to People of Pakistan.

WHAT ? . . . . LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT? UnnH !

They met at their friends' marriage gathering. Looked into each other's eyes, smiled, turned their heads away, looked back again, smiled and thought they had fallen in LOVE! The love-bug had bitten them hard.

They were both well-educated, good-looking, belonged to well-off families. For the next three weeks they were seen together in parks, in late-night spots and restaurants, driving for endless hours, sharing every aspect of their personalities and characteristics. They breathed in fragrance of love and breathed out expression of love. They were dear, darling, oh baby, sweetie, love, honey and everything that could depict their true affection for each other.

Next month, 300 invitees gathered to attend their marriage. Families and friends of both the bride and groom were more happier and satisfied than the newly-wed couple. They were presented with the best imported gifts available in town and declared the luckiest couple on earth. They enjoyed their honeymoon in Switzerland. A farfetched and unfulfilled dream for millions ! (Many can't afford to go out of their towns.)

Only three months later she filed papers for divorce and he happily signed. The love story ended in a drawn game. No winner, no loser. They even shook hands in the court with exaggerated smiles. The judge said he had handled 25 cases of divorce in that month and most of those were love-marriages.

But what happened to LOVE? Was it love in its true sense? Do we not hypocritically beautify our lusty emotions with the cosmetic wording? Is love at first sight really a proven truth? Are we not following the West on this deceptive and fake track? Who is responsible for all this chaotic outcome of cheating emotions? Parents, Teachers, Writers, Poets, Print / Electronic Media or the heart-breaking sufferers themselves? Someone has got to issue a verdict.

BHOLA POLITICAN - NOT A LEADER

A RECENT NEWS ITEM

"Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani reportedly felt fairly miffed when informed at the eleventh hour that the until recently extremely healthy Mian Nawaz Sharif would be missing out on the COAS security briefing ‘due to bad health".

"Only a day before this critical security briefing by top military bosses to the top political leadership of the country, a smiling and cheerful Nawaz Sharif had come all the way from Lahore to address a press conference at the Punjab House Islamabad to convey his “serious reservations” over the Kerry-Lugar Bill".

---------------------

Bhola baadhsah! He is a politician, not a national political leader. Politicians pursue their personal interests following their myopic vision. Leaders prefer national interest. Attending this COAS security breifing would have given him a great opportunity to raise his point of opinion on certain sensitive issues.

Kerry - Lugar Bill does have its implications but national security issues are also equally important to be discussed for a consensus of opinion. Avoiding to attend such a gathering means the absentees have no interest in national issues.

If (allegedly) former Mr. Ten Percent spends most of his time abroad, Bhola is not behind in following him. He spent 28 days abroad while the Motherland needed them both to negotiate certain issues and take bold decisions.

He has missed the bus! (Offsider)

AN SMS

Friend's SMS :

" Time is not a luxury that could be bought anywhere. So, when a friend spares his valuable time to accompany you, even for no apparent purpose, it shows his sincerity in friendly relationship and respect for you. "

This friend has recently got a job in a private hospital.

---------------------

I replied :

'' Time is a cheap commodity that could be bought by giving a job (in fact two separate jobs combined in apparently one) to a needy person from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. for Rs.10,000/- on the pretext of offering an opportunity to earn bread and butter in these hard times."

The employer buys his employees' time while submission, sub-servience, duty, obedience, responsibilities, services and sometimes complacent stay on the job for years are all bonus with it (for the employer).

A PIOUS STATE OFFICER !

He is a high ranking government official. Married a woman under half his age, adopted her sole kid from her first marriage (forged documents show he is the real father of the kid). His spouse proudly and loudly speaks about his being a pious man, for he does not accept bribe from any one. (A true God-fearing Muslim indeed....?).

BUT .................. his subordinates shower him with valuable gifts for his adopted kid and spouse and his very personal bungalow worth more than Rs.20 million is under construction .......! ! ! !

AND ................. she expresses unbelievably overacted love and affection towards her housemaids but those who are close to her, confirm on the condition of protection of their identity, accuse with certainty that she abuses her housemaids using methods not worth mentioning here.

What a piety ! (Offsider)

RECIPE FOR BLOODY REVOLUTION

'' They all belong to the same clan. Awaiting opportunities, watching their own interests, mostly lying to people. See their luxurious lifestyle and still they talk about the poor masses who consider them as their saviours. One is taking full advantage of the name of his departed spouse, the other boasts of being the hero of nuclear explosions always skipping the names of the real achievers of this historical landmark. And the rest of the tribe are sitting on the fence looking forward to the lady luck to crown them. What a country, full of suppressors, utopian thinkers and slumbering masses ! Damn it. No bloody revolution in the next 25 years.''

-------------------------

You are wrong man, a good old recipe is in preparation for a bloody revolution. Only people's patience with their party leaders, tolerance of tyranny and complacent optimism is the main impediment. (Offsider)

f) they smoke at home and particularly when small kids are around.

g) they borrow cigarettes from unknown people.

h) lower middle calss labourers waste money on smoking and their kids are deprived

Positive Thinking ... a blessing or otherwise?

Being stuck up in the dark cul-de-sac of uncertain circumstances is very painful indeed, particularly when friends abandon you, fate is annoyed with you, your loved ones do not understand your state of mind but not as agonizing as when you boast of being a positive thinker. Positive thinking is a great blessing but in disguise.

You try your level best to collect all the remaining energies and compose yourself to resist every negative thought and feeling pretending that all is well with you, though deep inside a worst battle continuously goes on.

Positive thinking is in fact a process, not a tool itself. However, it acts like fuel on fire. It requires a lot of self-composure, concentration, focused thoughts, strong will power to not lose the battle at any cost.

It's all an internal struggle and nobody, even your near and dear ones, could ever realize the intensity of anguish that you experience. Without understanding the reality of positive thinking by others there are good chances that relations may spoil and friendships may break up. At least I have personally paid a high price for being a positive thinker.

On the other hand deep rooted faith and conviction in your beliefs are the tools that help you to achieve your targets while positive thinking keeps your footing firm and stable in the stormy weathers.

In spite of all the negative aspects, I am still an advocate of positive thinking. Let us have your opinion on this.
