WHAT ? . . . . LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT? UnnH !

They met at their friends' marriage gathering. Looked into each other's eyes, smiled, turned their heads away, looked back again, smiled and thought they had fallen in LOVE! The love-bug had bitten them hard.

They were both well-educated, good-looking, belonged to well-off families. For the next three weeks they were seen together in parks, in late-night spots and restaurants, driving for endless hours, sharing every aspect of their personalities and characteristics. They breathed in fragrance of love and breathed out expression of love. They were dear, darling, oh baby, sweetie, love, honey and everything that could depict their true affection for each other.

Next month, 300 invitees gathered to attend their marriage. Families and friends of both the bride and groom were more happier and satisfied than the newly-wed couple. They were presented with the best imported gifts available in town and declared the luckiest couple on earth. They enjoyed their honeymoon in Switzerland. A farfetched and unfulfilled dream for millions ! (Many can't afford to go out of their towns.)

Only three months later she filed papers for divorce and he happily signed. The love story ended in a drawn game. No winner, no loser. They even shook hands in the court with exaggerated smiles. The judge said he had handled 25 cases of divorce in that month and most of those were love-marriages.

But what happened to LOVE? Was it love in its true sense? Do we not hypocritically beautify our lusty emotions with the cosmetic wording? Is love at first sight really a proven truth? Are we not following the West on this deceptive and fake track? Who is responsible for all this chaotic outcome of cheating emotions? Parents, Teachers, Writers, Poets, Print / Electronic Media or the heart-breaking sufferers themselves? Someone has got to issue a verdict.
